Plant This
Here's a bullet you wouldn't mind taking: Kelley Sandidge of
Hip Haven in Austin sells Retro Bullet Planters that were a staple
in stylish homes 50 years ago. Made from reinforced compression-molded
fiberglass resting on black, chrome, brass and galvanized finish
stands, the planters come in three sizes--16", 23" and
29 1/2". The egg-yellow one would look great with striped
New Zealand flax in it or maybe some tasteful papyrus in a low
red number. Check out the 12 colors online at www.hiphaven.com

“Bradley Cook calls Show, his shop in
Los Feliz, a "modern lifestyle"store, because it
sells a combination of accessories, jewelry, housewares and
furniture dating from, or reminiscent of, the era of mid-century
Modernism. One new item he carries is a fiberglass Retro
Bullet Planter by a company called Hip Haven. The planter
($130) comes in three sizes and in turquoise, ivory and tangerine. Show,
1722 North Vermont Avenue in Los Feliz Village, Los Angeles,
(323) 644.1960, www.showlifestyle.com.” |

Take a Bullet
“'Bullet Planters”, those quirky,
colorful fiberglass vessels, nestled in steel tripod stands,
were ubiquitous in 1950s homes, but they eventually all but
disappeared from the secondhand market. Now Hip Haven, an Austin,
Texas, company, has brought them back to life. Available in
12 colors, including chartreuse, turquoise and tangerine, the
Retro Bullet Planter is made of compression-molded fiberglass
to faithfully deliver the fibrous texture and vibrant color
of the originals (they're also great for magazines).” |
